Bathgate members drum up public support for music hub plan
Members of Bathgate Band left their brass instruments at home yesterday to participate in some drumming. That’s drumming up public support for the band’s Save the Wee Mair campaign.
Players were out and about in the town, chatting to locals about the band’s future plans to convert the Bathgate West Nursery building, known as the Wee Mair, into a Bathgate Music Hub.
Bathgate Band vice-president Derek Brown commented: “Thank you to everyone who stopped by and said hello, and found out how they can support the transformation of a much-loved building into a permanent home for music, learning and community life.”
A Bathgate Music Hub would provide a vibrant centre for rehearsal, performance, learning and collaboration, as well as providing a lasting home for Bathgate Band – one of the town’s longest-standing musical institutions.
