Former players to help celebrate NYBBS 60th anniversary
The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) is delighted to announce that, in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS), a band featuring former members from all six decades of its history is to be formed to give a special performance in the summer of next year.
The ‘former members’ band, conducted by Richard Evans, will share the stage with the current NYBBS for a joint concert in the Albert Halls in Stirling on the afternoon of Sunday, 29 July 2018.

A reunion of former players and staff is also planned for Easter weekend next year (Saturday 31 March 2018) when the ‘former members’ band will prepare for the concert while others can join them for a social gathering and an evening of reminiscing over those sixty years’ worth of concerts, CDs, broadcasts, foreign tours and other memorable events.
Former NYBBS Director Neil Cross is helping with the administration of the celebrations and he would be delighted to hear from any former players or staff members who would like to be involved in any way.
Those wishing to share in the celebrations should contact Neil by email at neilcrossnybbs60@sbba.org.uk giving him a very brief note of their involvement in the band (years etc.) and, for those wishing to perform in the former members band, letting him know their current instrument and recent playing history.
The organising committee is also keen to hear of any photographs, concert programmes or other memorabilia which could be included in a display to be used at NYBBS events throughout the year.
SBBA aims to make 2018 a special year for the thousands of bandsmen and women who, over the past 60 years, have gone through the ranks of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland helping to make it, in the words of John Wallace, "the jewel in the crown of Scottish banding."
