Stranraer Training Band makes giant strides

Stranraer Training Band has made great strides since getting involved in the Scottish Brass Band Association’s (SBBA) start-up band project.

Last August, the SBBA delivered 13 new instruments to the group to kick-start their journey in brass banding. This week, Education Officer John Boax was invited back to attend a concert given by Stranraer Training Band alongside its parent band Stranraer Brass.

John Boax commented: “I attended a concert on 25 June at which I was delighted to see the progress made by the youngsters from Stranraer Training Band under conductor Angela Miller. There are now 20 young performers in the group, all of whom seem to be thoroughly enjoying being part of this fledgling musical ensemble - long may their progress continue.”
