Band Supplies to sponsor Scottish Challenge

BRASS band retailer Band Supplies is to sponsor the Scottish Challenge Contest at the forthcoming Scottish Festival of Brass.
The festival takes place at Perth Concert Hall over two weekends in November with the Scottish Youth Championships on Saturday, November 21, and the Scottish Open and Scottish Challenge events following a week later.
Ronnie Tennant, managing director of Band Supplies, said: "We have a long and proud connection with the Scottish Festival of Brass and it is a delight to be able to support the event in this way, alongside Besson Musical Instruments which is supporting the Scottish Open.
"We also hope to give performers the free opportunity to work with Besson stars during the event, which is tremendously exciting."
Scottish Challenge will see 13 bands compete for the prizes with works that celebrate the compositional career of Edward Gregson, who celebrates his 70th birthday this year. Sixteen bands are due to compete on Howard Snell's newly commissioned work, Gallery, in the Scottish Open.
Carrie Boax, Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) president, commented: "I am delighted to welcome Band Supplies on board for the Scottish Challenge. This is the latest step in what has been a long and successful relationship between Band Supplies and the Scottish Brass Band Association.
"The Scottish Challenge promises to be an exciting competition celebrating the work of Edward Gregson. I am sure band and audience members will enjoy a wonderful day of music making, as well as popping to the Band Supplies exhibition stand where they will receive the usual first class service."
