Annan on player lookout

ANNAN Town Band is looking for more players to join its ranks ahead of a busy schedule of concerts and competitions.
Interested Bb bass players have been invited to get in touch to complete the organisation's line-up. It comes as Annan Town prepares to take part in a 'pack up your troubles' concert on August 28, an event featuring several organisations celebrating the rise of the communities in Gretna and Eastriggs through the building of HM Factory. Used for large-scale production of cordite during World War One, the factory was several miles in length, the biggest facility of its kind in the UK.
On September 12, Annan Town Band will perform in Talkin, North Cumbria for a war and peace themed evening in the parish church. Two weeks later, the band's own annual concert is due to take place in Annan itself.
Programmes will be prepared for each of those events as well as the Borders Entertainment contest, Kirkcudbright Harbour Festival and performances with the Blue Bell Festival Oompah Band.
Any interested players are welcome to attend rehearsals on Monday and Wednesdays from 7.30pm until 9.30pm. More information is available by emailing Samantha Bryden, band secretary, or calling 01461 40994 or 07784 699965.
