NYBBS 2015: Senior solo results
A BASS trombone player has triumphed in the senior solo competition at the 2015 National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS) summer course.
Kyle MacCorquodale came out victorious in the contest, performing the Derek Bourgeois Concerto. Held on Wednesday, July 29, the competition brought to an end a packed day of music making for all three NYBBS bands. Adjudicating in the evening's competition was Richard Evans, NYBBS' Musical Director Emeritus.
He commented: "That was just something else. One person made me cry. Another person played a piece I had never heard of but that person made me listen and did things with his playing that knocked me sideways.
"There was a remarkable standard. NYBBS is back."
