Irvine and Dreghorn dawn 'til dusk challenge

MEMBERS of Irvine and Dreghorn Band (IDB) are getting into the swing of their fundraising activities - by taking part in a dawn 'til dusk golf challenge.
Colin Stevely, Derek Leitch and Steven Purss are gearing up for the event which will see them play golf all day long on Friday June 26 as band members raise money ahead of their trip to the National Brass Band Championships in September. Once they complete 18 holes at Irvine Golf Club Bogside, the trio will start again and keep going until they run out of daylight.
Colin Stevely, IDB golf team captain, said: "It's going to be a long day and we're planning to do as many holes as possible. The sky is the limit - or perhaps it will be the blisters.
"We'll be starting at about 4am and will keep going until the sun goes down. Our fellow band members will be helping us throughout the day by caddying and keeping us fed and watered and generally cheering us on.
"We'd love as much support as possible."
Competitions will be running to guess the hole the golfers will finish at (eg hole 72) and to guess where they will lose the yellow ball (eg hole 15). Anyone looking to have a guess can contact band members, with an entry fee of £2.
Anyone looking to support the dawn 'til dusk challenge can text IDBB15 £2 to 70070. To change the donation amount, simply change the £2 to £1, £3, £4, £5 or £10.
