Irvine and Dreghorn Brass hit the perfect note!
On Saturday 1 November Irvine and Dreghorn Brass Band headed to Peebles to compete at the annual Borders Entertainment Brass Band Contest. As always we thoroughly enjoyed attending this competition and we played a varied programme including "I Will Follow Him" from Sister Act and also the beautiful duet called "Reflections" from War of the Worlds.
The results arrived at 7pm and we were absolutely delighted with the outcome. We came first in our section, and took third prize overall. A real result for the band!
The picture shows the band on stage, members of the band celebrated our win on our long and windy drive home to Irvine from Peebles.
Irvine and Dreghorn are the only competing brass band in the whole of North Ayrshire, and practice on Wednesday and Sundays and as well as the senior band who competed at the weekend we have a focussed youth programme in place to train and develop youngsters from beginner level, up.We'd love to see some new faces at any of the bands. Perhaps you know a young person who is interested in playing a brass instrument or perhaps you used to play and wish you had never given up? We'd love to see you! See www.idbrass.com for more information on us and for contact details.
We plan to hold an open day in early January and will publicise more information on this shortly.
