Ten members of The Co-operative Funeralcare Band took part in a World War 1 Day organised by Dunfermline Athletic Football Club on Sunday, 10th August, 2014 at East End Park, Dunfermline. The event was also supported by The Co-operative Funeralcare.

During the course of the day, band members presented a short programme of music suitable for the occasion and also played at a short service conducted by Pastor Jimmy Dowds, Chaplain to Dunfermline Athletic Football Club, and Civil Celebrant Denis Madden. During the service band members accompanied Heather Henderson of the Kelty Musical Association as she sang the hymn "Abide With Me".

Other participants in the event included Fraser Bedwell (who gave the Opening address) and Christine Evans of Poppy Scotland, and Mr. Ian Hunter and Colonel Helen Homewood, grandson and niece respectively of David Hunter and John Erskine, Dunfermline's two World War 1 Victoria Cross holders. Mr. Gordon Baird gave a talk on Dunfermline Athletic Football Club during the First World War and a panel of experts, Dr. Jen Novotny and Dr. Natasha Fergusson, discussed memorabilia and artefacts relating to the Great War brought in by members of the public.

The day concluded with a medley of World War 1 songs sung by Heather Henderson and bagpipe music played by Mr. John Rae a former member of the Scots Guards.
