Civic Reception for Tullis Russell Bands

Members of the Tullis Russell Mills Band, The Tullis Russell Intermediate Band with Provost Leishman local councillors and senior members of the Tullis Russell Group.
Fife Council played hosts to the members of the Tullis Russell Bands on Mon evening when an official civic reception was held in honour of the historic double that was achieved by the Tullis Russell Mills band and the Tullis Russell Intermediate Band by winning the Scottish 2nd section and Scottish 3rd section championships in Perth earlier this year. The event was hosted by the Provost of Fife Cllr Jim Leishman OBE who congratulated the bands not on only on their success at the Scottish Championships but also on the many other victories throughout the year which were visually represented with the vast array of trophies on display. Provost Leishman joked that he wasn't used to seeing so many trophies in one room as he had only ever managed Dunfemline Football Club.
The reception was held in the new TREE Centre (Tullis Russell Environmental Education Centre - https://www.thetreecentre.org/) at the company's main plant at Glenrothes, this was a very special night for the older players within the organisation as the new TREE Centre stands on the ground of the former band hall which was demolished in 2010. Senior members of staff from the bands sponsor the Tullis Russell Group were also present to show their support and appreciation of both bands achievements over the last 14 months as well as many invited guests and local council officials.
Special thanks was given to the management team at the Tullis Russell organisation which is headed up by Alan Douglas on the very professional way in which they have gone about building a workable 3 tier band structure which is producing some fantastic results. Much was also made of both bands involvement in the community ranging from major events such as the annual Gala Concert in the Rothes Halls to the smaller groups from both bands which take the time to visit local care homes and hospital to play for residents and patients.
Both bands now enter a busy time of summer engagements and fund raising events as they prepare both musically and financially for the National Finals in September.
