Whitburn Brass Festival 2014
Whitburn Youth Band held their third annual solo competition on Saturday 24th May 2014, in Whitburn Academy. The competition, which is fast becoming a noted fixture on the Scottish brass banding calendar, saw twenty-seven players contest four sections and drew entrants from all over West Lothian and talent from as far afield as Coalburn and Newtongrange.
Accompanied on keyboard by Alan Hastie and guest adjudicator, Nigel Boddice MBE, the contest once again proved a wonderful showcase of musicianship in brass playing and Whitburn Youth Band hope the event continues to grow each year attracting the future stars of brass to the town.
Whitburn Youth Band now looks forward to a busy summer season playing in local gala events and as guests at the Whitburn leg of the Queen's Commonwealth Baton Relay.
