Showcase the talents of the youngest brass players in Midlothian as part of EFOB
As part of the European Festival of Brass, the junior bands from MacTaggart Scott Loanhead Band, Newtongrange Silver Band, Penicuik Silver Band and St David's Brass will join forces to present a joint concert in Loanhead Miners' Welfare Club on Wednesday 30th April at 7:30pm. Admission is by donation - all proceeds to be shared between the junior bands. The compere will be Mr Alan Fernie and tuba player Miss Rachel Brown will be the special guest. The concert aims to showcase the talents of the youngest brass players in Midlothian and for Miss Brown, former player with Loanhead Brass Roots and now a post-graduate music student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, to demonstrate the sort of playing the young musicians can aspire to achieve.
In addition MacTaggart Scott Loanhead Band is to present an exhibition in Loanhead Library during the period of the Festival that traces the history of brass bands in the Loanhead area from the late 19th century
