Get Involved in EFOB in 2014

As you will be aware, in 2014 Scotland is hosting the European Brass Band Championships. SBBA wishes to use this opportunity to stage a nationwide programme of events involving every brass band in Scotland. This will operate under the title European Festival of Brass. Quite simply, this is the largest and most ambitious programme of events ever undertaken by SBBA in our association's long history.

Below there is a PDF file containing an information pack which provides full details of the programme of events which will take place across Scotland in late April and early May 2014. To help in ensuring that everyone in the Scottish brass band community is aware of what is planned, I would ask that you forward copies of the PDF file to all members, officials and supporters of your band. Please also feel free to print off copies of the information pack if hard copy versions are also required for distribution.

Over the course of the next few weeks, every band will be contacted by either a member of the SBBA executive or a SBBA Regional Development Officer. We hope to be able to arrange a visit to your band to discuss your involvement in this exciting project and the opportunities and benefits which it will bring to all bands in Scotland.

Also attached are four response forms. There is an initial response form to allow your band to tell us who will be your nominated contact person for this project and to allow you to provide an initial indication of the parts of the programme which your band is interested in. It would be of great assistance if you could complete and return this form just as soon as possible. The three other response forms (for the Pop Up Concerts, the Scottish Band Trail and individual events organised by your band) are for completion and submission once details of these items have been finalised. The response forms are provided as MS Word documents to allow for their completion on screen and return by email. Hard copies can be submitted by post if preferred.

I feel sure your band members will wish to play a full part in this ground breaking initiative to publicise and promote brass bands throughout Scotland. I look forward to hearing from your band with details of the part which you will play in the European Festival of Brass. Should you have any questions or require more information or clarification on any point, I can be contacted by email,     alanmclaren@sbba.org.uk   or by telephone on 0131 440 3830.
