Saturday 6th April at 3pm

John is one of the ‘star' performers in the Leyland Band and he was part of the great band which won the North West Championships last year, beating other famous bands, Fodens and Faireys, to the title.

Leyland also won the 2011 ‘Brass in Concert' event in England and were placed 2nd in the British Championships last year, qualifying for the European Championships in 2013. Leyland also won the British Championships a few years ago and John has enjoyed great success as a top soloist in the band.

This is quite a unique event in the Scottish banding calendar and, for Patrons who have never been to it before, it is a fantastic day with senior band players competing with each other for an array of prestigious trophies and prizes. Following the solo competition we all sit down to a 3 course dinner, then, it's back on stage for the presentation of prizes, which is followed by the short evening concert featuring soprano cornet solos from our special guest - John Doyle.

It's a fantastic day out, relaxing with friends, a wee drink from the bar and listening to some of Scotland's top players playing well known tunes ..... what more could you ask for? ..... well ..... the Top 4 players in the Advanced Section of the Junior Slow Melody will be there trying to spoil the seniors' party, just as young Rebecca Wilson did last year! Will Rebecca successfully defend her title this year? You really should be there to find out!!!! You will also have the chance to pick your own ‘Top 4' soloists in our Audience Adjudication Competition and the winne( the closest to the adjudicators actual result ) will win a bottle of wine for their efforts.

Tickets for this year's event have been held at just £12.00 each, which includes the competition, the 3 course dinner and the evening concert, featuring soloist - John Doyle.
Tickets are available from Jan Murray, so please give Jan a call on 01292-264194 to book your seats or email Jan at dalmellington_band_secretary@yahoo.co.uk

Please try and come along and help us keep our Cecil Oughton Slow Melody Event

‘Race Night' for Junior Band Funds - Saturday 3oth March 2013!

If you came along to our last Racenight in 2012, you would remember that, once again, it was a great and really exciting event with almost everyone going home SKINT! ( Juby, our African gold digger made a fortune, as usual!)..... but the supporters managed to raise over £1200.00 for our Junior Bands' trip to the British Youth Championships in Manchester and, we thank each and every one of you for that fantastic support! ..... and we hope even more of you will fancy coming along this year, it really is a cracking night out!

Our Junior Band, as ‘Senior Section - Champions of Scotland' will travel to Manchester on Sunday 14th April to compete, again, in the British Youth Championships and, we wish them every success.

For just £3.00 entry you can have a wee drink or two at our bar, have a good quality buffet meal and, lose every penny in your pocket and still head for home well pleased! ..... it must be something in the water!!!!!!!!!

So, if you fancy coming along to Dalmellington Community Centre on Saturday 30th March for a ‘real fun' night with our players and friends, please call John Mitchell - ‘Racenight Organiser' on 01292-571258 ( evenings ) or 07576-785-981 and John will be pleased to book your seats
( in the hall, not the saddle! ). Doors open from 7pm ..... 1st race at 7.45pm.
