A good day at the office for Tullis Bands in the Fife Solo and Ensemble Contest.

On a rather cold and snowy winters morning competitors turned up to the Halfway House Hotel in Kingseat, Dunfermline on Sunday to compete in annual Fife Charities Band Association solo and ensemble competition. A healthy entry gave adjudicator Paul Kiernan something to think about especially in the Junior, Intermediate and Youth sections. Paul commented at the end of the day he had enjoyed listening to the young players which will hopefully ensure the "senior brass bands in Fife stay healthy" in the senior sections Paul said "picking an over winner was a bit easier" and he wished all the competitors well in the up and coming Besson Scottish Solo and Ensemble Championships. The Tullis Russell organisation had a very good day picking up awards in all sections throughout the contest, with 6 of the places being first prizes.
Many older Fife bands people will be pleased to see the names of two brass band family's now with the next generation of players in the prize winners, namely the Bathgate family with Adam picking up second place in the under 12's (which his older brother won last year) and the McLaughlin family with Dylan coming third in the same section and brother Michael picking the award for best trombone in the contest.
