Open Auction for a brand new pBone instruments in aid of SANDS

The Scottish Brass Band Association are delighted to confirm the huge success of the New Year's Day ‘Loony Dook' by five members of Kingdom Brass in aid of the UK charity SANDS (Still and Neonatal Death Society - www.uk-sands.org), who made their mad dash into the Firth of the Forth from the Esplanade Beach in Kirkcaldy. SBBA are also pleased to announce that the fund raising efforts are now being continued with an open auction for a brand new pBone instrument donated by Warwick Music (www.warwickmusic.com).
A Tremendous Buzz
With the weather on their side, the intrepid trombone trio - Chris Mansfield, Dave Frame and Bill Sandell - delighted the 1,500 strong crowd with a mini concert from their watery wonderland with the icy waters lapping up to their waists, ensuring verses of ‘A Guid New Year' carried along the Esplanade for all to enjoy. When the Kingdom Dookers were the last ones standing they made their exit with a heart-warming rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne', generating great support from the impromptu audience. Not to be outdone by the ‘full-dookers', they then deposited their pBones (kindly donated by Warwick Music Ltd especially for the event - www.warwickmusic.com) into safe-keeping and ventured back in for an impressive triumph dive!
"The whole event had a tremendous buzz about it" agreed the Kingdom Dookers and "it was great to see so many people supporting our efforts both in person and through their online donations". The online donation site will remain open until the end of this month and can be found at https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/kingdombones.

SBBA encourages you to spread the news of this auction and let everyone know of this great opportunity to bid for a brand new pBone, whilst at the same time helping the worthy work of SANDS through the brass band fraternity.
SANDS (www.uk-sands.org)
Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, was founded in 1978. We were set up by a small group of bereaved parents devastated by the death of their babies and in particular by a complete lack of acknowledgement and understanding of the significance and impact of their loss.
Since that time we have supported many thousands of families whose babies have died, offering emotional support, comfort and practical help.
Yet in spite of medical advances, the shocking reality in the UK in 2011 is that every day 17 babies are stillborn or die within the first twenty eight days of life.
We operate throughout the UK and have three core aims:
• We support anyone affected by the death of a baby;
• We work in partnership with health professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care;
• We promote and fund research that could help to reduce the loss of babies' lives
