Loanhead Brass Roots 10th Anniversary
Loanhead Brass Roots had its first rehearsal in March 2002 and played its first concert a couple of months later. Thus they are celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year. From small beginnings, with around a dozen novice players from local primary schools, it is now a registered charity and separately constituted organisation with MacTaggart Scott Loanhead Band as its parent charity. Since its inception nearly 150 players have been involved and Mr Alan Fernie has been Musical Director throughout. Currently they run a beginners group, the Loanhead Brass Roots band and the Loanhead Brass Youth band with nearly 50 players in total “on the books”, some of whom have been with us since 2002.
A concert to mark the occasion will be held in the Church Hill Theatre, Edinburgh on Sunday 7th October at 2:00pm. Tickets(£8/£5) are available from Mr Peter Thorburn on 0131 664 8057
