NYBBS members to attend Rex Richardson workshop

A group of senior members of The National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS) are delighted to be attending a special instrumental weekend workshop event lead by Rex Richardson. In conjunction with their event partners, Moray Concert Brass, The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) have arranged a weekend programme to offer the lucky group of NYBBS members a chance to learn directly from this virtuoso trumpet and cornet soloist.
After travelling up to Elgin, Moray in the North East of Scotland on Saturday 23rd June, the NYBBS group will attend an instructive masterclass session by Rex from which they will be able to gain valuable advice and have an opportunity to discuss the many aspects of brass playing techniques. Saturday evening is then filled with a concert by Moray Concert Brass with Rex Richardson as their guest soloist, and the NYBBS players have been invited to perform as part of the ensemble. The momentum continues on Sunday, when Rex will be giving a recital which will no doubt impress and inspire his young audience with the diversity and quality of the many styles he has to offer.
Andrew Duncan, Development Manager for SBBA, commented: "This will be a wonderful opportunity for the group of NYBBS players to benefit from one of the top brass soloists around. Many of them have met Rex when he was the guest soloist at last year's NYBBS Summer Course, so they are all very excited at the prospect of having an opportunity to learn directly from him in so many ways through the programme we have formulated for this weekend.
We are extremely grateful to our event partners, Moray Concert Band, for all the work they have put into combining our involvement with their workshop and concert weekend event. The concert on Saturday should be a real treat and is open to the public, so I would encourage anyone to go along to Elgin Town Hall, Moray for a 7.30pm start and experience first-hand Rex Richardson's incredible performance." Tickets for the concert are available on the door.
