SBBA Pleased with new format at West Lothian

The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) are delighted to report the undoubted success of the recent 2012 West Lothian Festival of Brass. The event was organised in conjunction with the West Lothian Council and took place in Livingston's Howden Centre on Sunday 10th June. It was gratifying to welcome a near capacity audience to this landmark venue and the event saw impressive performances from six of Scotland's top brass bands.

The varied programmes, innovative presentations and sheer quality of performances all combined to offer the enthusiastic spectators an afternoon and evening of memorable entertainment and musical inspiration.

Andrew Duncan, Development Manager for SBBA commented "This has been a spectacular show from six very talented bands, and an event which looks set to be a favourite amongst the audiences it attracts.

We are extremely grateful to the West Lothian Council for their support of this event and for providing such a comprehensive venue for its staging. Anne-Marie Vance, Senior Arts Officer for West Lothian Council, in particular has always been an active supporter of SBBA and her involvement with this event has been a tremendous help towards its growth and development over the years. I must also pay tribute to the SBBA team who have worked relentlessly to organise and run the festival, ensuring its smooth running in such a professional manner. The collaboration between SBBA and West Lothian Council has definitely guaranteed the event to be such a huge success!"

This is the first year the festival has been held on a single day and the positive feedback from performers and audience alike indicate it could be the winning formula for future years. One audience member commented "This has been such a wonderful experience, a real treat, to see
