Great weekend in Campbeltown with Les Neish
On 18th - 19th February, Campbeltown Brass hosted a weekend of workshops and an evening concert on Saturday with special guest Les Neish. It was such a privilege to have Les with us over the weekend, where he provided excellent, fun and constructive workshops to our young players. It was also a joy to hear him play at the concert. Everyone had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We also had guest tutors John Boax, Carrie Boax and Mark Good - whose contributions to the weekend were invaluable. We want to say a big thank you to SBBA for their support, without which this event would not have been possible.
Invitations were extended to young brass players from across the rural west of Scotland (Mid-Argyll, Islay, Bute and Arran) to join Campbeltown Brass for this event. Jamie McVicar said "We were delighted when Scott McDermott, Instrumental Music Teacher at Islay & Jura Schools, accepted our invitation and together with several primary school children made the long journey to be with us." Mr McDermott wrote "A huge thank you to Jamie and all members of Campbeltown Brass for inviting us and making us so very welcome. The kids had a great time and really enjoyed playing with your group and we all thoroughly enjoyed the concert - thank you all."
It never ceases to amaze us that at the farthest corner of Scotland, there is such an abundance of talents and kids so enthusiastic about their music.
