Langholm Town Band looking for new members
LANGHOLM TOWN BAND (THIRD SECTION)
Langholm Town Band are looking for new members to join their successful Junior Band. We also require percussionists for our Senior Band.
We returned to the contesting stage in 2009 under the baton of ALAN FERNIE as a 4th section band. Our first win was best 4th section band at the Borders Entertainment 2009 in Peebles. We then became runners-up in the Scottish Championship in February 2010 and qualified for the National Finals at Harrogate later that year. In September 2010 we were awarded best 4th section band at Brass in the Park. We are now a 3rd section band and in the Scottish Championships in 2011 we came 8th and we have just recently won the best 3rd section band at Brass in the Park (6th overall) beating all 2nd and 3rd section bands and only 2 points from the 5th place 1st section band.
Langholm Town Band are the oldest continuous brass band in Scotland established in 1815. We are extremely privileged to have ALAN FERNIE as our MD. Junior Band rehearsals are on Tuesday nights from 7 - 9 pm and our senior band is on Friday night from 7.30 - 9.30 pm with some Sunday rehearsals during contesting time. We also play at numerous summer events and our favourite week of the year is our annual Common Riding which is held the last week in July. We are a close knit, friendly band.
