TARTAN BRASS looking for recruits for Marches

Tartan Brass are looking for help for the Whit Marches Weekend. We now need 15 people, but are in need of a full bass section, horns and bari's.  Any cornets and troms will go onto the standby list until the other positions are filled.

Tartan Brass is an excellent experience and open to any musician of any standard.  It's a chance to represent Scotland in the heart of Brassed-off-ness, meet new players, increase your playing experience, and is regarded as the most fun competition of the banding calendar!  Kilts for guys, and mini-kilts for girls are compulsory trademarks of the Tartan Brass experience!
Any questions, please email me at brianjrobertson@hotmail.com

Last year you may remember a wee mail about Whit Friday...Well, the time has come around again, and I would like to invite you to be part of Tartan Brass 2011, who will be representing Scotland at the Whit marches, in the Saddleworth area of Yorkshire. [https://www.whitfriday.brassbands.saddleworth.org/intro.html]
Any musician is welcome to join Tartan Brass, any age from 18 to 118 !  Some places for non-playing music lovers to take pics/videos/run and maybe flag-bear too !   Members from competing bands, non-competing bands welcome - all you need is to be able to read music!  I must stress you don't need to be from a certain place, or know someone that's in the the band.
****** Tartan Brass will be performing at Whit Friday for the 6th year now - please let me know asap if you are interested to be part of the band ******

Apart from a Scottish presence at Whit Friday, the main benefits of playing with Tartan Brass are to meet other players within the British banding community, gain experience of playing a march through a target of 10 villages, then a competing piece that will be adjudicated - in the heart of the Brassed-off land! Some vids and pics on Youtube,Facebook,Bebo etc etc if you're still curious.....
The experience starts on Thu 16th June, when you'll get picked up anywhere between Campbeltown and Carlisle (Glasgow departure at appx 7pm), then head for an over-nighter in Carlisle.* A sharp and early band practice at 9am on the Friday gets the competing day underway. You then get your unique Tartan Brass t-shirt as we head further south to check into our Huddersfield hotel, where we grab a bite then head for the a_ction. Upon arriving in the Whit zone, we have a target of 10 villages to attend - so far we've only managed about 6!! The competing ends late at night. Basically, the fun starts on Thursday, and ends when the bus pulls back into Glasgow at appx 3pm on Sat 18th June - some members have been known to carry on the parT for another evening!
Kilts for guys, and mini-kilts for girls are an essential.
