Shotts & Croy Bands lead the Papal Visit Music
Calling the Shotts at Bellahouston
'Shotts St Patricks brass band and Croy Parish silver band are still in celebration mode after performing for Pope Benedict XVI at Bellahouston Park last Thursday (September 16th). The band performed a varied programme of traditional hymn tunes, a few Scottish arrangements as well as some music composed specifically for the event to commemorate the Papal visit and welcome The Pope to Scotland.
The sun was shining, there was an audience in the region of 70,000 and the band's performance was well received by all so we all enjoyed a fantastic and memorable day. For many bandsmen (and women) this was a once in a lifetime opportunity that will not be forgotten. The band were joined by choirs & musicians from all over Scotland and the north of England, not to mention Michelle McManus and Susan Boyle! '
