REMEMBER to \'WATCH\' Linz \'LIVE\'
British Bandsman live-streaming European Championships
British Bandsman is making the final preparations for its groundbreaking
coverage of this year's European Brass Band Championships at the
Brucknerhaus in Linz, Austria, which it is presenting in association with
Yamaha Neo.
The magazine's Editor, Kenneth Crookston, commented: "This is arguably the
most exciting project we've been involved in over recent years and we are
looking forward immensely to providing brass band lovers across the globe
with high quality sound and pictures from this year's 'European'.
He added: "I have personally been to the venue in Linz along with our
technical experts and I can assure the many viewers who have already signed
up for the coverage that everything will in place there for a terrific
viewing experience. In addition, Sheona White, Russell Gray and Simone
Rebello (who will be the presenter of our marathon coverage in which she
will introduce a number of special guests), have all been in our
Wellingborough studio to record master-class segments that will be used
throughout the weekend, offering viewers tips from some of the very best
performers in banding. With great bands there like Cory, Black Dyke,
Eikanger-Bjørsvik, Brass Band Oberösterreich and other champion bands from
around the continent, and a whole host of new music on display, it promises
to be a memorable weekend."
Dr. Robert Childs, conductor of the defending champion band, Cory, is also
excited about the project, and he added: "I think that it's a marvellous
idea for the Bandsman to provide worldwide coverage of the European
Championships. Many of our fans have been unable to get tickets this year as
it is a complete sell out, but I understand that some of them are even
getting together to make a day of it and enjoy the performances on the
computer in each other's company. There's nothing like actually being there,
but this is the next best thing and I expect all the players' mobile phones
to be red hot in Linz as some of our supporters back home let us know how
they think we've done!"
Coverage of the full Championship Section contest and Gala Concert on Friday
30 April and Saturday 1 May is available at a cost of £8.00, with Friday or
Saturday coverage priced at £5.00 per day if bought separately.
