Bon-Accord Silver Band from Aberdeen are due to be representing Scotland in the European Brass Band Championships to be held in Linz, Austria on 30th and 31st of April 2010. This is the biggest competition that we have been invited to perform at in our 48 year history and is arguably the biggest brass band competition in the world.

In the run up to the competition we are performing the two test pieces which we are performing in the contest at an Open Rehearsal; this is open to the general public to come along and give us their support. The two pieces we are playing are:
Our 'Own Choice' composition and the set work 'Spiriti' by Thomas Doss [Thomas Doss is a composer from Linz, Austria and has been commissioned to write this piece specially for the 2010 European Brass Band Championships] Between these two pieces the Bon-Accord Silver 'B' Band will perform a short entertainment programme.

The open rehearsal is to be held on:

Date: Sunday 25th April 2010
Location: Cults Academy - Assembly hall
Time: 17:00 - 18:30
Price: Entry is completely free.

For the contest we have gained fantastic financial support from Chevron Upstream Europe, Maersk Oil North Sea UK Ltd. and Craig Group.

We have also secured complimentary kilt hire from Georgian Dress Hire in Aberdeen to supply the whole band with kilts and accessories to wear whilst performing in Austria. For our last major contest at the Royal Albert Hall in 2000 we were also lucky to have this luxury of free kilt hire from Georgian Dress Hire so we are delighted to be able to continue this tradition for our next major contest.
