Scotland\'s Representatives in Europe
Scotland will be well represented at this years European in Linz Austria. Eion Tonner, Hayley Edmond and Nicole Waddell will be Scotland's representatives at the week long course of the European Youth Brass Band.
The EYBB 2010 will be organised by Wolfgang Homar, director of music school of Kirchdorf. The various brass associations of the different countries nominate young talented musicians to work out during this week which is not only a concert program, but also to exchange their culture.
The Guest Soloist is Steven Mead, Euphonium.
In the European Solo Competition, Scottish Solo Champion Ross Knight will be one of 60 soloists taking part in this prestigious event.
The 5th European Soloist Competition for Brass and Percussion instruments is from April 25th/29th. The final will take place the 29th in Brucknerhaus, Linz, Austria They even have a soloist from Usbekistan, a Marimba player! Good luck to to Ross.
Of course best wishes to Bon Accord Band and Conductor John Maines who have taken up not only the musical challenge, but the financial challenge to represent Scotland at the European Championships on 30th April and 1st May.
