Simone Rebello Percussion Workshop

Dalmellington Band, in conjunction with the West of Scotland Brass Band Association, are delighted to host a FREE percussion workshop, with the superb percussion soloist – Simone Rebello, in the Dalmellington Community Centre on Sunday 15 February 2009 from 2 pm  until 4 pm.

Simone will be delighted to work with young players and adults of all ages, giving advice on playing techniques and rhythm work, before performing in a few solo items accompanied by the Dalmellington Junior Band.

Simone regularly performs with the internationally renowned BackBeat Percussion Quartet of which she is a founder member. The group tours extensively in Japan and America and have also given concerts in Zimbabwe, the Cayman Islands and throughout Europe. In addition to recording 2 CDs and numerous international TV and radio broadcasts the group has won several competitions including the Royal Over - Seas League Ensemble Prize (1997), The Osaka International Chamber Music Festa (1999) and The USA Concert Artists Guild (2001) which led to a USA debut at The Weill Hall - Carnegie Hall.

As part of the Scottish Brass Band Association's (SBBA) continuing Development Programme, it is expected that the event will be extremely popular and places will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.
