Creetown 125th Anniversary Celebrations

Celebrations came to a climax last weekend with two special events.OnSaturday there was a social evening at which present members, past players, relations and friends were present. The band chairman welcomed everyone andthen introduced the speakers John Cutland, Denis Samways and Stuart McNab.After this the anniversary raffle was drawn leaving ample time for thosepresent to enjoy the buffet and the refreshments while renewing oldaquaintances and swapping stories about their banding days.

The following day (30th October) an anniversary concert was held in thelocal school. A band of 38 comprising past and present players and conductedby Stuart McNab played to an appreciative audience which included the SBBAsecretary. The first half of the programme was made up of music mentioned inthe band's history and included Slaidburn, The Black Prince and Gems ofScotia. In the second half the music was of a more modern and lighternature.

This was a suitable end to a great year which started in May with a trainingband and learners' concert. This was followed by a band concert and tour ofthe area and the guest concert with the Whitburn Band in September.

The band wishes to thank all who took part or attended the events.
