Kingdom Retain FCBA Championship

Kingdom Brass maintained their record of wins at the Fife Charities Band Association Open contest. Playing off a number 15 draw the bands performance was judged to be the best of the day by adjudicator Stan Lippeat. The Dalmellington band maintained their current run of form to finish second overall, just one point away from Kingdom Brass, and also to lift the 1st section title ahead of third placed Clackmannan District. The 2nd section title was taken by Dalkeith & Monktonhall whilst local band Buckhaven & Methil enjoyed a return to the winners circle by taking the 3rd section title. Newcomers Brass Sounds Inverclyde claimed their first winners trophy by lifting the 4th section prize.

Kingdom Brass also lifted the March contest trophy with their performance of Viva Birkenshaw but were prevented from taking a clean sweep as Dalmellington won the Hymn Tune contest with their performance of Wilbys ?The Day Thou Gavest?. Kingdom Brass also very nearly lifted all of the individual awards taking the cornet, horn, euphonium and bass section prizes. The only one denied them was the trombone prize which was taken by Paul McKelvie of Clackmannan District.
