Kirkie to host memorial concert for Peter Fraser

The Kirkintilloch Band is hosting a very special memorial concert on Saturday 19 September in celebration of the life and legacy of Peter Fraser MBE.

The occasion will take place at St Mary’s Parish Church, Kirkintilloch, starting at 7.30pm.

Long-time friend of the band, Frank Renton has agreed to compère the event in what promises to be an unforgettable evening.

Together they will celebrate Peter’s remarkable life through music, stories and cherished memories of a man who inspired so many and whose legacy continues to shine brightly.

The evening will also feature the world première of The Keeper of the Flame, a new work by Professor Peter Graham, commissioned by The Kirkintilloch Band in Peter’s memory. This composition is a lasting tribute to Peter’s passion, dedication and the incredible impact he made on the banding family throughout Scotland and beyond.

Entry to the concert is by donation on the door, in aid of Playback Recording Service for the Blind. It was Peter’s unswerving service to this cause as its coordinator that earned him the MBE as well as the SBBA President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement.
