Home sweet home... Kirkie secures purchase of band hall
Friday 31 July 2026The Kirkintilloch Band has announced a landmark moment in its history after successfully completing the purchase of its band hall, becoming the proud owner of the property for the very first time.
As a self-funded registered charity, securing the long-term future of the organisation has always been a key priority. The premises now provide a permanent home, safeguards the band’s future, and creates a lasting legacy for generations of musicians to come.
The acquisition follows successful negotiations with the previous owner, whose appreciation of the band’s rich history and contribution to the local community played a significant part in helping bring the agreement to fruition.

Band manager Allan Wardrope said: “We have been working hard behind the scenes on this project, and we’re absolutely delighted to have reached this milestone. Owning our own band hall provides a lasting legacy and a permanent home for The Kirkintilloch Band for the future.
“It was a tremendous help that the previous owner has a genuine appreciation for the band and understands our history within the community. He was determined to help us get this over the line, and we are extremely grateful for his support throughout the process.
“This investment opens up opportunities that simply weren’t available to us as tenants. We can now begin planning both structural and aesthetic improvements to our home, creating a facility that better serves our members and supports our ambitions for the future. It is an incredibly exciting time for the band, and we look forward with great optimism to the years ahead.”
This significant achievement marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for The Kirkintilloch Band, ensuring the organisation has a secure, sustainable base from which it can continue to rehearse, perform and inspire future generations of musicians, representing Kirkintilloch on stages across Scotland, the UK and beyond.
