Youngsters encouraged to make a beeline to pBuzz Music Camp

Young people across Inverclyde are being invited to take the first steps in their musical journey, courtesy of an award-winning Port Glasgow youth brass band.

Riverside Youth Band - multi-time Scottish youth champion - is inviting youngsters to experience a brass instrument for the first time at its free pBuzz Music Camp in Port Glasgow New Parish Church.

Sessions are led by Laura Good, a qualified music graduate, and are suitable for children aged seven and upwards. No musical experience is required.

Laura, education director at Riverside Youth Band, said: "Learning a musical instrument is a life-changing experience, and being part of an ensemble helps build friendships and develop new skills that stand young people in good stead in whatever path they might choose.

"Most of all, it's just great fun, and we look forward to welcoming young people to Port Glasgow New Parish for a wonderful week of music making in a positive, nurturing environment."

News of Riverside's upcoming pBuzz Music Camp comes as it was hailed by the area's MP for its continued success on the concert and contesting platforms.

In a letter to Riverside, Inverclyde MP Martin McCluskey praised the organisation's "outstanding success" at the national finals of the Scottish Concert Band Festival, at which it received a Platinum Award - the highest accolade offered at the event.

Mr McCluskey continued: "Your work ensures that young people in Inverclyde can develop their musical skills, confidence, and sense of achievement, while representing our area with pride on a national platform.

"You are a tremendous credit to yourselves, your families, and the wider Inverclyde community."
The 2026 pBuzz Music Camp is free and runs from 10am-11.30am from July 27-30.
