Arbroath & Carnoustie awards recognise contributions to band success

Awards and accolades were handed out in recognition of individual contributions to the band’s continued success the Arbroath & Carnoustie Band presentation evening the Craw’s Nest in Carnoustie.

In addition to the framed certificates and trophies being awarded, special thanks were given to band president and principal cornet Ann Ness for her dedication to the training band over the years, training band conductor Gordon Wilson for his commitment to the teaching the young players, flugel player Kirstina Fairweather for her tuition and support to all members and musical director Neill McDonald for his hours of work, education and commitment to the band.

Young progressive player: Libby Young, solo cornet, training band

Progressive player: Reiss Banks, 1st horn, senior band

Stand out performance: Lindsay Millar, repiano, senior band

Musical director award: Kirstina Fairweather, flugel

Section of the year: horns

Most improved player: Caius Walker, 1st/2nd trombone

Player of the year: Gordon Wilson: euphonium

Players’ player of the year: Abbie Napier, solo horn

Bandsperson of the year (Vic Lewis Memorial Trophy): Neill McDonald, musical director

Young player of the year: Daniel Toller, Eb bass
