Kirkintilloch win the Senior Cup

Wholehearted congratulations to The Kirkintilloch Band on winning the Senior Cup competition in the 104th British Open Spring Festival in Birmingham today.

Conducted masterfully by Martyn Ramsay, the band now qualifies for next year’s Grand Shield contest, along with Rainford, Tonwynlais Temperance and East London Brass.

Dalmellington came 16th under the baton of Chris Shanks.

In the Senior Trophy, congratulations also to Unite Scotland Kinneil, directed by Allan Ramsay, on achieving third place and a promotion to next year’s Senior Cup together with Sandhurst Silver, Sovereign Brass and Yorkshire Imperial.

Newtongrange Silver (Anne Crookston) and Dalkeith & Monktonhall (James Chamberlain) came in 10th and 11th places respectively.

Whitburn band play in the Grand Shield in Birmingham Town Hall tomorrow.
