Kingdom Brass reign supreme in Fife
Sunday 26 April 2026Kingdom Brass came out on top at yesterday’s Fife Brass Band Festival, beating nine other bands to the entertainment contest title at the Carnegie Hall, Dumfermline.
Each band played an own-choice 20-minute programme for the adjudication of Mark Good. Jillian Gillespie and Madelaine Baker decided on which band put on the most entertaining show and commere for the day was Susan Chown.

The winning programme by Kingdom Brass, inspired and led by musical director Eoin Tonner, opened with the circus march The Melody Shop (Karl L King, arr. Peter Smalley), followed by The Bells of Notre Dame (Alan Menken/Stephen Schwartz, arr. Eoin Tonner), The Water of Tyne (arr. Philip Sparke), A World of Your Own (arr. Eoin Tonner) and concluding with Glorifio Aeternum (Dean Jones).
A short concert by the Cooperation Youth Brass Band provided the entertainment while the results were being prepared, which were as follows:

4. Lochgelly (First Section) 93pts
5. Campbeltown Brass (Second Section) 91pts

7. Dysart Colliery Silver (Fourth Section) 89pts
8. Whitburn Heartlands (Fourth Section) 87pts
9. Penicuik Silver (Fourth Section) 86pts
10. Tullis Russell Mills (Second Section) 85pts
The prize for the most entertaining band went to Campbeltown Brass (below).
The best soloist award went to Lee Bathgate, Lochgelly principal cornet.
