Ten bands lined up for this year’s Fife Festival

Ten bands will be taking to the stage for Scotland’s first entertainment contest of the year.

The Fife Brass Band Festival is this Saturday (25 April) in the Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline, commencing at 9.30am. Doors open at 9.00am.

Each band will play an own-choice 20-minute programme – providing an exciting day of varied music making and entertainment – for the adjudication of Mark Good.

Jillian Gillespie and Madelaine Baker will adjudge which band has put on the most entertaining show. Compere for the day will be Susan Chown.

Bands taking part are (in alphabetical order) Bathgate, Campbeltown Brass, Clackmannan District, Dysart Colliery Silver, Kingdom Brass, Kirkintilloch Kelvin Brass, Lochgelly, Penicuik Silver, Tullis Russell Mills and Whitburn Heartlands.

Trophies plus voucher will be awarded to the best band in each section, and trophies plus cheque for first (£150), second (£100) and third (£75) places overall. There will also be a prize for the best soloist and an award for the most entertaining band.

There will be a short concert by the Cooperation Youth Brass Band while the results are being prepared.

The results are expected around 4.15pm.

Tickets, priced at £10 and £6 concessions/children, may be purchased at the ticket desk on the day or in advance at onfife.com (which incurs at £1.50 booking fee). Under-3s go free.
