Joshua in concert after qualification for European Soloist Competition
Wednesday 11 March 2026One of Scotland’s finest young trombone soloists is performing in concert with Dalmellington Band to help fund his trip to Austria following his qualification for the European Soloist Competition.
Joshua Parkhill will represent Scotland in the competition in Linz, Austria – part of the European Brass Band Festival – after qualifying via video submission in which he played Improvisation No.1 by Enrique Crespo.
The solo competiton is being held between 20 and 25 April. If Joshua progresses to the final his repertoire will include Blue Bells of Scotland by Arthur Pryor, Ballade for Trombone and Piano (Frank Martin) and the trombone concerto Scene Changes (Oliver Waespi).
You can see and hear Joshua with the Dalmellington Band at the Ayr Salvation Army, in John Street, Ayr, on Friday 27 March. The concert starts at 7.30pm and entry is by donation which will to go towards the cost of getting Joshua to Austria.
