2026 SBBA AGM and Learning Festival
Friday 16 January 2026This year there is a later date and a new venue for the SBBA Annual General Meeting and Learning Festival. The event will take place on Saturday 7 February in the Brucefield Church, 60 East Main Street, Whitburn EH47 0RD.
After the business of the AGM there will be a Scottish Championships 3rd and 4th Section test piece workshop by current Scottish champion band Whitburn, starting at 1pm in the Whitburn Band Hall, Murraysgate Industrial Estate, Whitburn, EH47 0PX.
AGM delegates’ registration will at 10.00am, followed by the meeting half an hour later. There will also be a presentation on child protection and safeguarding by Caroline Farren, SBBA Child Protection Officer as well as an opportunity to speak with the SBBA Registration Team.
Each band may send up to four delegates to the conference and the AGM, although only two will have voting powers. Delegates have to be registered in advance, via this link.
Appropriate annual SBBA registration fees should be paid no later than Friday 30 January via cheque, made payable to the Scottish Brass Band Association, or directly by BACS to Bank of Scotland account no. 00797191, sort code 80-08-85.
Nominations are requested for the posts of vice president and secretary. Any nominations, including details of the proposer and seconder, should be received by the SBBA secretary Tom Allan at least 14 days before the date of the AGM.
Any party nominated for the post as an official shall be required to submit a short statement not exceeding 250 words, incorporating details of their relevant experience, which will be circulated to member bands with nomination details before the AGM. They may also be able to make a short address (not exceeding five minutes) to the AGM before any election.
