2025 Band of the Year rankings published

Now that this year’s contesting season has come to an end – following completion of the Scottish Festival of Brass – the rankings for the 2025 Band of the Year have been published by the Scottish Brass Band Association.

Leading the Championship Section is the cooperation band; in the First Section the top band is Unite Scotland Kinneil; the Second Section lead band is Perthshire Brass; heading the Third Section is Renfrew Burgh; and at the top of the Fourth Section is Arbroath & Carnoustie.

The Co’s table topping points were accumulated by a runner-up spot in the Scottish Championships, victory at the Fife Brass Band Festival, a fifth place at the European Championships, seventh at the British Open, ninth at the National Finals and, the crowning glory, winning Brass in Concert.

Kinneil achieved its successful season with a fifth place at the Scottish Championships, 12th at the Senior Trophy, fourth at the Fife Brass Band Festival, victory at the West of Scotland contest, seventh at the Fife Charities contest and victory at the Scottish Challenge.

Perthshire Brass earned its top place with a victory at the Scottish Championships, sixth at the National Finals and 12th (and best Second Section band) at the Scottish Challenge.

Renfrew Burgh’s place at the top table was achieved by a win at the Scottish Championships, sixth at the National Finals and victory at the Borders Entertainment Contest.

Success for Arbroath & Carnoustie was accomplished with a win at the Scottish Championships, followed by a National title, and an 11th place (and best Fourth Section band) at the Scottish Challenge.
