Sad passing of popular musician and broadcaster Jamie McVicar

The Scottish Brass Band Association is saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Jamie McVicar, euphonium player, music teacher, conductor and founder member and former musical director of Campbeltown Brass.

Jamie was a regular presenter on the Girvan-based Sounds of Brass radio station for whom he broadcast his popular shows from around the world.

He was an integral part of Campbeltown Brass and had a positive impact on the lives of so many of young players throughout the years. He served as MD until the end of 2012, having led the band to many successes.

Jamie, who lived and worked in the United States, will be greatly missed right across the brass band world and SBBA’s condolences and warm thoughts go out to his family and friends.
