Good luck to our Scottish representatives in the British Open

Best wishes and good luck to the cooperation band and Whitburn Band on their travels to Birmingham at the end of this week to participate in the British Open Brass Band Championships.

The event, in the city’s Symphony Hall, takes place on Saturday when the top brass bands from the UK and further afield will perform the premiere of Stephen Roberts' new work, Star Crossed Lovers. The test piece, commissioned by contest organisers Martin and Karyn Mortimer, takes its title from the prologue to Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet.

the cooperation band, led by Katrina Marzella Wheeler, is having an Open Rehearsal at Govan and Linthouse Parish Church, Govan Rd, Glasgow G51 2YL on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Everyone welcome.

The following evening Whitburn Band, under the baton of Luc Vertommen, has invited the public to its Open Rehearsal at West Calder High School, Limefield Lane, West Calder EH55 8BF, starting at 7.15pm.
