Closing date reminder for West of Scotland contest entries

Here’s a wee reminder that the closing date for entries into the West of Scotland Entertainment Contest is Saturday 2 August. The event takes place in the Walker Halls, Troon, on Saturday 30 August.

Bands will be required to play a 20-minute programme of music which will be adjudicated by Brett Baker. The entertainment element of each band’s performance will be judged by South Ayrshire councillor Mark Dixon.

There will be prizes for the best band in each section, as well as for those bands in first to fourth places overall. Awards will also be made to the conductor of winning band and for best solo cornet, best bass section and most entertaining programme.
