Concerts will show off young talent in a fantastic concert hall

The final touches are being made to the programmes of the three National Youth Brass Bands of Scotland (NYBBS) bands who will be gracing the stage of the Perth Concert Hall tomorrow.

The Children’s band, under the baton of Alan Fernie, will be performing at 3pm with the following repertoire:

• The Auld Road to Hawick (Iain Mundy)
• Clydebuilt (Alan Fernie)
• Campbeltown Loch (arr. Ron Barnes)
• Afton Water (J B McFarlane)
• Jesus Loves Me (W B Bradbury arr. Jack Stobbs)
• The Tayside Pearls (Alan Fernie)
• The Flying Scotsman (Jess Purbrick)
• Hoots Mon (Harry Robertson arr. Alan Fernie)
• The Muppet Show (arr. Cameron Mabon)

The concert by the Reserve and Senior bands takes place at 6.30pm. The Reserve players, conducted by John Boax, will be playing the following programme:

• Tribute (James Curnow)
• Apex (Peter Meechan)
• Corineus (Chrisptoher Bond)
• Music for Jock Tamson (Alan Fernie)
• Phoenix from War of the Worlds (Peter Graham)
• Barbarian Horde (arr. Sandy Smith)
• Bring me Sunshine (arr. Christopher Bond)

The Senior band, under musical director Ian Porthouse, will round off what has been a fun-filled and packed week of musical, social and learning activities at the annual summer course at Strathallan School with this offering:

• I Know Thou Art Mine (Leonard Ballantine)
• Percussion Ensemble – Keep on Dancing (Iona Crosby)

• Breezin’ Down Broadway (arr Goff Richards)
• Spectrum (Gilbert Vinters)
