A welcome return to Granite City for MD Alan

Granite City Brass has announced that Alan Haggart MA, LTCL has taken up the role of musical director – again.

Alan is no stranger to the role, having previously conducted the band several times during the 1990s, 2000s and early 2010s. A long-standing member, he is well known to players and audiences alike, both for his performances on soprano cornet and his deep connection to the band’s musical identity.

His latest appointment brings a strong sense of continuity and renewed creative energy.

Away from Granite City, Alan is a familiar face on the Aberdeen music scene as a performer with ensembles including Aberdeen Sinfonietta, the Blue Lamp Big Band and the Aberdeen Bach Choir. He also teaches brass across city schools through Aberdeen City Council’s Instrumental Music Service.

“The band is excited to be working under Alan’s baton once again and looks forward to the musical journey ahead,” comments Granite City secretary Lewis Catto.
