Karen and Albert honoured for their long service with Bon-Accord
Sunday 22 June 2025Bon-Accord Silver Band has celebrated the long service of two of its players who have been with the band for 50 years.
Baritone player Karen Crozier and trombonist Albert Gibb both began playing at schools in Aberdeen, having been taught by tutors in the Aberdeen City Music Service. They both progressed to playing in the Aberdeen City Youth Band before joining Bon-Accord Silver Band.
These players each received a commemorative plaque in recognition of their commitment to the band and were awarded life membership medals from the Scottish Brass Band Association.
Bon-Accord Silver Band was formed in 1962 by Stewart Watson so that players who began playing in schools in the Aberdeen area had somewhere to continue their hobby. There are now two bands in the organisation, Bon-Accord Silver Band and Bon-Accord B Band.
The next step in the development of the organisation is the formation of a youth band which will be starting after the summer holidays.
Bon-Accord Silver Band’s next concert – Summer Sounds – will be on Wednesday 2 July in Fountainhall at the Cross, Aberdeen at 7.30pm.
