Bolivian-style music group gets off the ground

Wednesday 4 June 2025

The green shoots of a new music group have emerged. Banda Espectacular Escocia, an Edinburgh based outfit which specialises in Bolivian and Latin American music, has just enjoyed its first rehearsal and is looking forward to the next on Saturday (7 June).

Group founder Leo Parrado-Mccabe, who is half Bolivian, says Banda is for brass / wind instrumentalists in and around the Scottish capital who enjoy playing carnival-style music.

Leo says: “I like to see people enjoying themselves and having a great time while producing music that’s appealing to everyone.”

If you are interested in joining in the fun, pop along to Banda’s next rehearsal at Newton Church Hall, Edmonstone Road, Danderhall in Dalkeith on Saturday from 6-7.30pm or drop Leo an email at banda.espectacular.escocia@gmail.com
