Purcell School expands brass department

Saturday 3 May 2025

The Purcell School, the UK’s oldest specialist music school, has expanded its brass department and is now welcoming applications from young brass band instrumentalists.

This development opens the door for talented cornet, tenor horn, baritone and euphonium players to study at the internationally renowned music school.

Situated in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on the outskirts of London, the Purcell School has long been a centre of excellence for brass players, offering exceptional training for trumpet, French horn, trombone and tuba.

The department’s expansion reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of brass musicians across a broader range of instruments.

Students benefit from expert tuition, world-class performance opportunities and an unparalleled programme of events at leading concert venues across London.

The boarding and day school welcomes applications from aspiring brass musicians. Prospective students and their families are encouraged to attend one of the planned open mornings to experience life at the school and learn more about the opportunities available.
