Shirley is appointed MD of Brass Sounds Inverclyde

Brass Sounds Inverclyde has announced that it has appointed Shirley McCorkell Dunsmore as its new musical director.

Shirley is from a very musical background. Starting at the age of five, she had her first piano lesson and later in life started accompanying choirs and soloists.

She was born into a Salvationist family were she progressed through the many musical outlets available – singing company, songsters and brass band.

Shirley was the principal euphonium of the Inverclyde Christian brass for many years and also has played in various contesting bands on cornet, horn, euphonium and as a percussionist.

Throughout the years Shirley has had leadership roles in various youth works, choirs and small musical groups and is now enjoying the new challenge and opportunity to conduct Brass Sounds Inverclyde.
