Peter is new conductor of Whitburn Heartlands

Whitburn Heartlands has announced that Peter Holmes has been appointed as its new conductor to take the band forward into a new era.

Peter took on his first full-time conducting post with Newmains & District after leaving university. From there he moved to Peebles Silver Band and guided the band to numerous wins at entertainment contests and several strong finishes at the Scottish Championships.

Peter then took over at MacTaggarts Scott Loanhead where he continued this trend winning section prizes at the Borders entertainment contest and the Fife Brass Band competition.

Peter is a talented bass trombone player who has played for many top bands in both Scotland and further afield.

Peter will make his debut with the band at the Borders entertainment contest in Innerleithen on 2 November.
