Platinum Jubilee spectacular is unique opportunity for youth band

Friday 13 May 2022

Here is a unique opportunity for a youth band in or around Fife to be part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations over the weekend of 17-19 June.

The Platinum Jubilee Youth Spectacular is an event being organised by Brigadier Sir Melville Jameson in Kelty in aid of charity on a newly-constructed arena at the St Ninian’s site which sits on a former open cast coal site by the village.

A huge cast of some 400 Army Cadet Force (ACF) and Combined Cadet Force (CCF) military bands, Scottish schools’ pipes & drums and Highland dancers has already been booked for the occasion – but Brigadier Jameson is after a youth brass band to complete the line-up.

The event will be a celebration of the music of young people, enabling youth to display their extraordinary musical talents to the public. The spectacular will also feature a motorcycle display team, scouts, guides, boys brigade and police cadets with the compere being no less than TV personality Stephen Mulhern and a closing performance by the famous Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

There will be rehearsals and a dress rehearsal on Friday 17 June in readiness for performances on Saturday and Sunday, 18 and 19 June.

All expenses for travel, food and accommodation will be met by the organisers.

Brigadier Jameson can be contacted at production@melvillejameson.co.uk if you are interested in taking part and would like more information. There is also a website where you can get further details of the event.
